CPV Lab Guide

If you have any experience with PPV, PPC, media buying, or even social traffic - utilizing CPV Lab is one of the best options for you. When I first used it ages ago I was absolutely blown away by the features and technology that has. Even though we use proprietary technology internally, we would highly recommend this to any publisher that wants a great solution to track their campaigns. CPV Lab is a tracking technology similar to Tracking202 but it is far more robust and has a lot more options. If you've made any money in affiliate marketing, it would be highly suggested that you try this software right now because it allows you to split test and gives you more variables so you can truly make the most money from your traffic.

CPV Lab can be used on building campaigns that are as simple as direct linking or is advanced as split testing multiple landing pages across multiple offers. Honestly, the name does not suit its full potential as it is rarely even used for tracking contextual traffic anymore. Below is a brief walk though of all the features and how to utilize them. This will be the first set of our guides on CPV Lab. Our next guide will be how to utilize CPV Lab to track mobile offers when buying WAP traffic, so stay tuned and buy this software now!

  • Direct Link and Landing Page campaigns: The one you should use for simple direct linking or simple landing pages.
  • Multiple options: The multiple options comes into the game when you are looking for more than one offer with a single landing page. Started to get complicated eh?
  • Landing Page Sequence: Want to grab the opt in no matter what? Give the user a sequence of landing pages. Also used in case you have more than one offer with a similar demographic.
  • Lead capture: Pretty much simple and straightforward stuff. The key to lead capture!
  • Email follow up: Usually email follow ups are tracked by your auto responder. Although these are pretty much accurate, they can take a long time to show up on stats. With CPV Lab, your stats come up quickly and it also gets info of every single email you sent.

Data Fields

Every campaign has similar fields for your to fill, almost 90% are the same. This is because all the campaigns basically consist of the same affiliate links, landing pages etc. here's an overview of the fields that you will need to fill up. with that in mind, creating your first CPV Lab campaign won't be hard.

  • Upload Campaign: All campaigns are downloadable as CSV files. If you would like to duplicate a campaign, you could just upload it and duplicate it instantaneously. You could also select the clone option from the first screen.
  • Campaign Name: Give a campaign a name. I would suggest something like OfferName Network PPV Network, (Ex. Acai EWA AdOn). You could also use the offer ID or something that might help you to remember easily
  • ID: Give the campaign ID (CID)
  • Source: Don't get confused, the source refers to a list of popular PPV networks. Select your PPV network and your tracking will be a lot easier.
  • Source ID: The numerical ID of the source. Usually automatically generated.
  • URL Append Token: The token that appends at the end of the URL for tracking purposes.
  • Keyword Token: To track keywords.
  • Engage Rate: Tells you the CTR, the views or whatever that might be useful in tracking your campaigns. Particularly useful for pop over campaigns.
  • Stats CPV: The cost analysis.
  • Pass Target to Landing Page: If you want the target on the Landing Page, this might be useful. In most cases, this is unnecessary.
  • Landing Pages and Offer URLs: If you have multiple landing pages and multiple offer URLs, or multiple offers, this is the way to go. You can give CPV Lab as many landing pages and URLs as necessary and it will be able to work them out.
  • Campaign URL: This is the URL, the tracking URL which you will have to use at your PPV network. If you have to make changes to your offer, you don't need to go resubmit your ad again, you just have to change the offer URL in CPV Lab and it will take care of the rest.
  • Landing Page Offer Links: The landing page offer link is the link that is used to link to the offer. Usually you would use your network's tracking, but here, we use the URL that CPV Lab generates for us.
  • Landing Page Code: The landing page code is the code that you will have to add to the HTML of your landing page. This code makes sure that the stats from and to the landing page are tracked.
  • Pixel: Add the pixel to your affiliate network to track conversions from the network's side.

Campaign Types Explained

Direct link and landing page:
This is the most basic of CPV Labs features. If you are using a simple landing page or if you are tracking an offer that is direct linked and does not run thru a landing page, this is the way to go. We suggest that you split test before taking a decision. You might lose some leads, you might gain some leads. Split test and settle on one after you get the best results. With the direct link campaigns, all you need to do is enter the URL from the affiliate network and generate the offer URLs. Use that URL on the PPV network. As usual, add the links to their respective locations.

Multiple option campaigns:
If you have a review page that shows more than one product, then the multiple option campaign is the way to go. Let's take the example of two acai offers. Let's assume that one of them if for youngsters and the other is for older people. If that's the case, we could simple say that offer A is suitable for people under 30, so if you are under 30, click here. If you are over 30, click here. The multiple option campaigns option allows you to test all clicks and all traffic that you are getting to that page so that you can track and analyze all you like! All the options remain the same except the landing pages and offer URL's. You will have to add the landing pages and the offers URL's. and get the link individually.

Multiple path campaigns:
The multiple path campaign is particularly useful if you are testing either the same offer thru two different paths or two different offers on the same path. It could of course be two entirely different offers and paths pertaining to one group. This is more or less similar to multiple landing pages. A good example of such an offer would be a business opportunity at a certain location. Let's take the example of a business opportunity that you are running in New York and Washington. The one that runs in New York and shout it's name out. The one running in Washington can say that it caters specifically to people from Washington. Since all the traffic comes to one landing page from its path, tracking becomes easier. In this campaign setup, you will have to add the paths, the URL's. of the paths and the URL's. of the Landing pages in addition to the general setup.

Lead capture campaigns:
If you are specifically into lead capture and sell them in the long term, the lead capture campaign will certainly help you a lot. The usual funnel is Opt In Page -> thank you page -> landing page/Offer page. The feature here is that you could use exactly the same opt in code for this campaign and CPV Lab would track it for you. No need to copy and paste the who thing all over again.

Landing Page Sequence:
If you are planning on selling and if you plan to keep on selling, multiple landing pages will do the trick. Let's say that one person has bought a product, he goes to the next page and sees another product. There he sees another offer but chooses to ignore if and clicks close. We pop a small line of text and say – wait, we have something better for you. The landing page sequence is a lot similar to a flow chart. If the person buys, show landing page A or else show B. you could add as many as landing pages as you may need. Like a dream inside a dream?

Email Follow up campaigns:
If you are a heavy mailer, email follow up campaigns are pretty useful. Normally, your auto responder will track only certain stats. You will know the clicks, views etc. but CPV Lab goes further and tracks all the stats for every single email you send. With these stats, you will know what to improve, what to up and what to drop.
