Facebook International IQ Quiz Guide
We've been promoting INTL Mobile IQ offers since the dawn of time and it was actually one of the first guides that we put out ages ago. We've continue building the vertical even more and we've expanded our mobile reach into over (190) countries. When we released the first guide we only had reach in about 40 countries - this just gives you a scope of how much potential there is for you now. The mobile vertical never ceases to amaze us and it's still in such an early stage so there is massive room for growth and ambitious affiliates willing to step outside of their comfort zone. The offers are unique, to say the least: campaigns either don't convert at all or convert outta' control. As you can imagine, finding the right offer and country takes a lot of patience and time - but once you find a killer deal the reward is huge. Facebook is growing internationally faster than you can even imagine with certain demographics getting millions of new users a year; most of them are completely unexposed to affiliate campaigns. Contact your affiliate manager to know the winners - and don't follow the popular trends of everyone else, grow some balls and get into the rarer countries! There are a few aspects to be considered before you start spending all you have.
- CPC is low, so is CPM.
- Volume has to be HIGH to actually generate considerable amounts of money.
- Conversion rates are usually far lower than domestic markets, but low click prices make up for it.
- Cheap clicks rule this niche and .005c EPC's will determine massive profits.
One thing you should know when creating campaigns: If you think about it, nobody is really looking to take an IQ quiz, they just see an advertisement and decide spur of the moment.. You should be focusing on high volume clicks and the volume transactions to turn real money. Sometimes conversions for these offers are around 3% - much lower than English speaking markets, but when you start getting international you need to ignore what you're used to and look at the actual ROI generated. Let's have a look at the following statistics:
- Payout : $4
- CVR : 1%
- CPM : 0.08
- 0.1% CTR = 0.08 CPC
- 100 clicks = $8
- 1 conversion = $4
- Congratulations! You lose $4 instantly!
So Birdman, what if I get a higher CTR or cheaper clicks? The good news is that you can easily manage to get over .3-.5% CTR's with optimized images / adcopies. With CTR's around that range clicks will cost pennies and you will get the massive amount of volume you need to actually pull some real money through this.
Great! So all I need is a .4% CTR? Well, how the hell am I supposed to get a good CTR? The key to CTR for Mobile IQ Quizzes are the images that you use. Pictures that make you think "WTF!" get the highest CTR. Google is your friend, and so is Photoshop! Pick two screwed up pictures or optical illusions, Photoshop them together, and then you'll have an image that shouts WTF! For example, find two actors, Photoshop them in an awkward position (make sure it is not too awkward or it won't go past Facebook's approval department). Like we just discussed in our international dating guide, try using localized actors to get higher more targeted traffic. If the IQ Quiz offer you select pertains to a movie then go with the movie characters. Try adjusting the hue and saturation of their faces so their skin is a different color and just have fun with it and do something that will grab attention. Below are some old examples of what we used in the past and should give you an idea of the types of images you should use:
Using a Landing Page
Using a landing page increases the conversions drastically if done correctly, especially if you have Facebook branded on the page. Create a page that is similar to a Facebook App or rather looks like a Facebook App, direct your traffic to that page. Creating a landing page similar to face book gets you a good conversion rate, in most cases around 50% better than those got without a landing page. If you're new to promoting Mobile IQ Quizzes on Facebook, then it's best that you stick to direct linking until you find a country or region that actually produces some profit for you - then you can get into optimizing landing pages.
Cloaking
A page that even says "Facebook" is the quickest way to get banned from their platform, but what can I say - the temptation to increase those conversions and capitalize on huge markets makes it well worth it.. Cloak your offer to a page that says IQ or something similar to that. I cloaked one of my offers to a landing page. It was an INTL offer. The landing page had the photo of a monkey that said "My IQ is 100, what is yours?" A click went to some IQ App on the internet. Even without using landing pages, getting Mobile offers approved on Facebook are very hard so it's well worth it to set up cloaking.
Overview and Additional Tips
- Get some crazy images that will grab the highest CTR possible. For the pictures, use optical illusions, pictures of beautiful girls, vibrant colors. Be sure to add borders, gradients, annoying colors, unique effects, picture offsetting, anything you can add to increase the CTR. The image is the most important part of the adcopy for these - I have gotten CTR's as high as .65c
- Test your ads and get the highest CTR, optimize accordingly. Contact your AM for other related guides if needed.
- When bidding internationally, only do CPM bidding. Clicks can be as cheap as .01c in some of the international verticals we have offers for.
- Use a landing page with "Facebook" over it.
- Cloak for approval.
- Get cheap clicks, profit big!
- Do not use adcopies like "How Many Triangles", "IQ Quiz". The more creative you are with the adcopies the more CTR you will get. Be deceptive, be confusing, create interest, be a bit insulting, or challenge their intelligence directly.
- Remember to use language targeting on your adcopies - many of the European countries have 3+ primary languages. We have super niche IQ offers that hit secondary languages.
Ahh, that was easy - wasn't it? The Facebook pro's kill these offers, while there is still room for the newer affiliates to hit the niche markets (especially the language specific offers). If you need any help or campaign suggestions feel free to contact any of the staff. This is a super stable niche and we have been pushing it hard for about a three years now internally without problems. Don't be scared now, step outside of your comfort zone and you can reach some more goals. Diversification is key for any affiliates success, including my own. I've seen more fly by night affiliates than I can even count; the real bosses run multiple different niches across multiple traffic sources.
This concludes yet another epic guide from yours truly, Birdman Himself.
