Promoting Ringtones on PPV

One of the other most powerful points of revenue for EWA's internal operation is Mobile Ringtones, which are immensly profitable on PPV unless you have the budget for media buys. We're going to cover how to create a successful ringtone campaign on EWA within a day, and be making money by the second. This old-school niche continues to thrive because music is the most popular thing in the world, period. To promote ringtones on PPV you can use a number of methods including: direct linking over competitors and various ringtone related sites, demographic targeting, broad music artist & genre landers, or specific artist related keywords and URLs (with landers built around one or two artists). There are also some ways to generate extra income including some tricks we've picked up along the way with our experience internally marketing.

Direct linking this offer is relatively easy and the best way to learn to promote first. You would be promoting this offer without the hassle of using a lander, but your targets are much more limited. Target directly over the artist and pray the targets cheap enough that your low conversion rate from not targeting will cover the budget, or you can get a little more creative. An example of this creativity would be to target directly over competing ringtones sites. This way the user see's your ad display over the ad they were originally going to, and will most likely follow through with your advertisement and give you a lead. This is a wonderful way to target, unfortunatly there are not as many big name targets so the little traffic that's available is usually ultra-competative.

For broad targeting, you should use some of the cheapest traffic sources you can find. PPV has some very very very cheap clicks as long as you are using Quantcast and making sure the targets are relevant to the respective age group you are targeting, and keep in mind that the artist needs to apply to that target, then you'll be good to go. You can do this with a lander or direct linking, we suggest demographic targeted landers (if you were promoting to a 30+ crowd, you'd probably not use a Lil Wayne lander, right?). It's sometimes easier to use genre related landers when targeting large demographics and off that, with strong optimization you can harness immense traffic and get huge revenues flying through - this is for the far more expeirenced PPV user.

My favorite way is to target hit the artists and genres directly, diving more into what ringtones are all about. When you target an artist you get a much high conversion rate, and this doesn't even need to be explained, targeted traffic converts higher. You'll want to target the artist's fan pages (official and non-official), you can also target lyrics websites, and song names in particular. This is where the fun begins for landers. You should make a small lander with the artist's name, a dropdown menu of either Song names or of Mobile Carrier names, and then have that page link directly to the offer page. When promoting specific musicians, be sure to build URL targets rather than keywords - the bigger the better. Are you the affiliate with 300, 500, or 900 targets?

The versatility of offers like Mobile Ringtones - Motime.com (All Carriers) (US) are amazing, it can convert almost anywhere! Music is one of the few things in life that lasts absolutely forever. As a publisher it's your responsibility to check in with your AM before spending your hard-earned money on these campaigns, they are here to help you. We can only help make you profitable if you show us what you're doing before you start, so we can give suggestions and easy optimizations.
