Setting Up Tracking202 with EWA Network

I've repeated this over and over again: if you don't track and optimize you are losing money. You need to know the right amount of clicks, the ads which converted and the exact conversion rates with the demographics if applicable. Back in the old-school days, the technology wasn't yet developed so I had to individually setup subid tracking for each ad I had setup. After realizing the full potential of affiliate marketing I began developing my own internal tracking mechansim - but that doens't mean you have to do the same! Third party tracking like Tracking/Prosper 202 is readily available, entirely free and is the industry norm for most publishers right now. Prosper 202 is the self-hosted solution, but you could choose either of the two solutions and you will be ready to start optimizing your campaigns. KEEP IN MIND: you need to get a good server and install SSL for your tracking domain in order to place pixels successfully with EWA because all of our offers require HTTPS pixels. Download Prosper202 from Tracking202.com and set it up on the server. I'll get you started off with a sample:

The Setup Tab

  1. Add PPC Networks

Give a name to the PPC network you are going to use, a nickname. Let's start off with Facebook. Key in the name and click Add.

  2. Add PPC Network Accounts

We have multiple accounts on PPC networks, goes without saying! Give your account a name; I use the login that goes with the account.

  3. Add Affiliate Networks

EWA Network - the absolute best network in the industry that every affiliate tries to be part of but gets denied.

    • Affiliate Campaigns

This is where we add our affiliate campaigns, their payouts and their affiliate URL. Click the dropdown menu to list the affiliate networks you have already entered.

      • Select the affiliate network.
      • Give the campaign a name. ex MacBook Air
      • Click Yes for URL rotation if the offer has multiple URLs. Click no if not. Ask you affiliate manager if you have any queries on this.
      • Enter the affiliate URL, the tracking URL from EWA.
      • Enter the payout amount.
      • Select yes of no for cloaking. Self-explanatory!
      • Finally click add to add the offer in the database.
  4. Landing pages

If you are promoting with a landing page, I urge you to use this feature. It is really good:

    • Select the type of landing page, usually single.
    • Select the affiliate network from the dropdown.
    • Select your affiliate campaign from the dropdown.
    • Give the landing page a nickname, something like OfferName_Nick
    • Finally enter the URL of the landing page and click add.
  5. Text ads

This is where you add your text ads to the tracking platform. I suggest that you add only the nicknames of the ads, because adding the full ad is likely to take a long long time. Especially with the amount of ads we create!

    • Select direct linking if you are direct linking, and landing page if you are using a landing page.
    • I chose direct linking for that particular campaign.
    • Select the Affiliate network, the affiliate campaign and give the ad nickname.
    • I personally use the ad nickname in the ad headline, description and the URL fields.
    • Click add to add the ad, repeat for each ad.
  6. Get LP code

Applies if you are using a landing page.

    • Select simple or advanced landing page set up.
    • Choose the affiliate network, campaign and click generate link.
    • Generate the link, place it in the appropriate tags on your landing page and you are set to tracking clicks on your landing page.
  7. Get links

Possibly the most important step after adding your campaigns.

    • Choose direct linking for direct, landing page for landing page. Yes, important if you are choosing promoting through a landing page.
    • Select the affiliate network, the campaign and the method of promotion(Direct or Landing Page)
    • Select the ad copy from the drop down list.
    • Select the PPC network and the PPC accounts. Here we are with Facebook and my account XYZ.
    • Enter the max CPC in the max CPC field. I usually enter and my CPC bid or an average.
    • Tracking IDs are important if you wish to track your ad from various locations. if the same ad is being shown in different areas, or anything that makes a difference, choose tracking IDs. More or less sub ids.
    • Finally click generate tracking link. This tracking is the link that you will use in the ad on Facebook. You will not be using EWA's tracking link directly on Facebook.
  8. Get Postback URL or pixel

To track conversions on your platform, you will need to use a postback URL or a tracking pixel.

    • Select "Advanced pixel fire" under "Get pixel code for". Advanced pixel fire will help you track multiple clicks at the same point of time.
    • Choose secure link, https. EWA does not support insecure links.
    • Enter the amount if it is different from the value you set.
    • Select the affiliate network and the affiliate campaign.
    • The pixel you get will be the tracking pixel that you will add to the offer on EWA under, "add pixel". You can also email the pixel directly into your account managers email
    • This pixel fires when you have a conversion, and that conversion will reflect on your "Overview page".

Overview Tab

The overview tab is as simple as it is. It gives you an overview of what your campaigns you are running and how they are performing. A red means that the ad is running negative ROI, green means positive. You can adjust your time range, the campaigns and the affiliate networks, the PPC networks and PPC accounts as per requirement to narrow down on one particular campaign or network.

  • Breakdown analysis gives you an overview over the past few days. Necessary if some offers convert better on some days.
  • Day parting is the time at which the offer converted and certainly the time at which the offer failed to convert. Useful to gather more information, you can run an ad at the time it is likely to convert.
  • Week parting is day parting converted to the days of the week.
  • The group overview groups the campaigns or networks or absolutely anything that you might want to group.

Visitors Tab

The Visitors Tab keeps a record of all your visitors:

  • It assigns them a unique Sub ID
  • Notes the time
  • The operating system used
  • The browser used
  • Your PPC network and account
  • Status of the click
  • Visitor's IP
  • The offer
  • The referrer
  • The text ad and the keyword.
  • You can also sort by PPC network or campaign or anything else which you may want.

Spy Tool

The Spy Tool is a live view of visitors interacting with your affiliate campaigns. This keeps updating if you are running a campaign, if this doesn't keep updating when you are running a campaign, you are probably getting a horrible CTR.

Update Tab

The Update Tab is to update your version of Prosper 202, or any other campaign information which may have changed over the course of the campaign. Although this isn't a 100% fool proof guide, it should give you you a good idea about how to navigate and setup Tracking202. After you get tracking setup on your side, you're that much closer to getting setup with a new profitable campaign. We have prepared several epic guides on different traffic sources, niches, and exactly how to promote specific offers. This guide has been archived from our network emails. EWA sends out new guides every week explaining how to run certain niches and specific traffic sources.
